DMITRY POZDNYAKOV

Nationality: Russia

PROFILE
My name is Dima and I am originally from Russia. I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old as a competitor of international youthful competitions and became a finalist in many National Tournaments. During my youth, I trained in Sochi with coaches who trained top famous tennis players such as Eugenie Kafelnikov and Maria Sharapova. I played and acted as a sparring partner for 6 years at one of the famous tennis schools in St Petersburg where many of the top Russian tennis players train. I have experience of coaching with children and adults of all abilities, from beginners to young professional as touring players. My greatest coaching achievement to-date has been assisting one of my students to win the U16s Junior tournament in France earlier this year.

Before coming to Singapore to advance my tennis coaching profession, I studied at Saint Petersburg National State University from 2003 until 2009 where I graduated with an honours degree in Theory and Principles of Big Tennis.

I believe it is never too late to start playing tennis, but the best time to begin is in childhood. Tennis is often known as ‘chess on the move’. It is excellent for both intellectual and physical development. Tennis is perfect for harmony, health and beauty!
